Work experience day 5

Today when i arrived i had to prepare for a group of mum's and toddlers to come in for the toddleong group. I met two new people called Chrissie and Kath. Some of my jobs included getting art supplies from the supply cupboard, getting table cloths and chairs out and making star Christmas tree decorations. There was one group in the morning which was fairly busy so i joined in and helped with anything the group needed or that Chrissie wanted me to do. After lunch there was another group of toddlers which was a bit smaller than the morning sessions and i made tea for the parents and juice for the children; I also washed up after them and did some general tidying up after them as there was quite a mess after the two groups of children had been. The last thing I had to do was Cut out some A4 sheets of paper for Emma and help Chrissie and Kath tidy up at the end of the day.

Work experience day 4

Today when i got in Cleo was again in a meeting, she saw me walking in from home and asked if i could open up the gardener's lodge. So i opened up the lodge and did all of the washing up from the homeless group that was in the night before and put it away. I helped with any odd jobs Cleo, Emma and Vickie asked me in the morning also. In the afternoon i did some more washing up and then a man called Chris from the homeless group came in to jigsaw some silhouettes and i helped him tidy up all of the dust after wards and wiped down all of the surfaces. I also helped to make the volunteer Christmas card by cutting out 100 pieces of card and 100 pictures and sticking them down.

Work experience day 3

When I came in today my first job was to sweep the floor from yesterdays activities and put away things also leftover. Cleo and Emma had a meeting so I had to help prepare for a group they were going to have in on Saturday. There wasn't much work to do in the morning so in the afternoon I made a table for labeling boxes that contain items that are going from the store room back into the museum when it opens again in may 2001.I also helped organize the office, filing and admin.

Work experience day 2

Today i came in at half 9 again and one of the jobs i started with was to set up for a group coming from bath spa. I had to set up tables and chairs and place artifacts on the table from the museum for the group session. Another thing i had to do was wash up all of the cups and cutlery that had been used during the day. Today wasn't as busy as yesterday; the last thing that i had to do at the end of the day was load up Cleo's car with anything that needed to be taken away. I didn't have any difficulties today.

Work experience day 1

I started my first day of work experience at the Holburne museum today. I met 2 new people who i was working for, the first person was called Emma Finch and she is the Ed. and Outreach Officer here, the second person i met was called Cleo Witt and she was the Education Officer there. During my day i sat in the Gardener's lodge whilst Emma taught a group of people studying to be teachers who were being taught how to teach children art. I had to make tea for the group and wash out the cups and also hand them art supplies when they needed them. I also had to read all of the health and safety instructions and a booklet on how the Holburne museum was started. Other activities i participated in during the day were taking artifacts used in the drawing sessions back to a house opposite Sydney gardens where they were being held until the museum re-opens next year. I didn't really encounter any problems today but i learned how to draw still life correctly and that the museum works with many people of different age groups and abilities.
